On this episode of Art in the Game we welcome Robin from www.netimegambling.com on the show. Robin’s extensive gaming knowledge from casinos Maine to Rhode Island make him a terrific guest to discuss casino and gaming etiquette. For the last six years Robin has published his website with dedication and passion. Here on the East Coast NE Time Gambling has become a go to resource for everything New England gambling. Robin has great coverage of both of the tribes history and accolades. Excellent articles about gaming. He also is sure to include a lot of terrific links and resources to learn about your favorite game. He is quick to admit he could not do it all so why not have some other experts on his site to help his readers?
We figured we’d start off at the very beginning since this is a brand new casino in there are many new to gaming here. Signing up for a players card is definitely the first step in any casino. Once set up swiping that card and a kiosk and registering for any special promotions is the next thing on your list. Once your card is activated and all of the special promotions are loaded go ahead and start playing. Always make sure that your card is in a machine and the light is green and your name is appears on the screen. When starting play at a table make sure the pit boss sees that your card is on the table as you’re buying in. When you play, shop, or dine on property as long as you use your card you will accrue points. At MGM these points can be converted into express cops. Express comps can be used for anything on property from Free Play to hotel rooms and everything in between. If you can play on days where they are credit or tier multipliers those are great to take advantage of.
Robin also shared his knowledge on tipping or “toking” your table dealer. At least once an hour definitely when you exit play. Tipping your dealer will ensure a more relaxed and jovial atmosphere at the table. They truly appreciate tokes as they are paid very low minimum wage. It will also help you be recognized the next time you visit the casino. Just like a restaurant you want to have good service so offer a little token of appreciation and you’ll be surprise how far it gets you.
Robin recommended to place a bet for the dealer instead. This gives them a chance to have fun playing the game. I agree with Robin 100%. Without question doing something like this brings come Comradely and fun to your play. After all they’re placing your bets, giving you your winnings why not a little tip?
Robin recommends tipping your slot attended up to $20 if you’re hand pay is in excess of $1000. Even a $10 bill will be very appreciated on the lower jackpot. And there’s no need to tip more than one slot attended.
Sometimes when checking into a hotel slipping the front desk clerk a $20 or $50 between your license and credit card can go along way for an upgrade. Robin is happy and takes what he gets for his comp rooms. Those of you with less of a status may want to try a little tip sandwich. It seems to work for me.
